About — American Mapping Solutions
How AMS started

Every county deserves a map that actually works.

American Mapping Solutions started as an answer to a problem our founder kept running into — not a business plan looking for a market.

The origin

From financial models to county websites.

Before AMS, our founder built ArcGIS models for financial institutions — spatial analysis behind real growth plans, where a map had to hold up under real scrutiny, not just look good in a slide.

That work put him in and around a lot of local government along the way. And the same thing kept happening: he’d pull up a county or city’s GIS to check something, and find it outdated, broken, or barely there at all. Parcel data that hadn’t been touched in years. Public-facing maps that no longer loaded. Departments doing real work with tools that hadn’t kept up.

It wasn’t a lack of care. It was a lack of capacity — most local governments simply don’t have the budget or staff to build and maintain a modern GIS system on their own, even when they know they need one.

That gap became American Mapping Solutions. We built AMS to be the GIS department many local governments couldn’t otherwise justify hiring — priced and run so a county or city could actually sustain it, not just afford it once and watch it go stale again.

“The need was already there. We just built the thing that could actually meet it.”

What we believe

Affordable and effective aren’t in tension.

That’s the standard AMS holds itself to, whether the client is a county tax assessor’s office or a private real estate portfolio.

01

Sustainable, not just affordable

We price and build for the long haul — a system your government can keep running, not a one-time project that quietly breaks again in a few years.

02

Effective over flashy

Every map and dashboard we build is judged by whether your staff and residents actually use it — not by how it looks in a proposal.

03

Government-first, open to more

Most of our work is with county and municipal government. The same rigor applies to private organizations that need to manage a property portfolio just as carefully.

Have a GIS gap like the one we started with?

Whether you need a single project or someone to run GIS for you full-time, the first step is the same conversation.
